Family activities in the Baie de Somme and Côte d'Opale

All articles

Between supervised beaches, an amusement park and nature within walking distance, the Conchil-le-Temple area is one of the most family-friendly destinations on the Côte d'Opale. Here's a selection of tried-and-tested activities to keep both little ones and grown-ups entertained, sorted by age group and distance from the cottage.

For toddlers and families with pushchairs

The Baie d'Authie, just 3 km away, is well suited to a family's first outings: flat paths, a tide to watch, and often the surprise of spotting seals in the distance without a long walk. The Aquaclub in Berck-sur-Mer (9 km), a covered, heated water park, means you can go for a swim even in uncertain weather — no small advantage on the Côte d'Opale.

For children aged 5 to 12

  • Parc Bagatelle in Merlimont (11 km) — France's oldest amusement park, with over 35 rides and a mini farm
  • Fort-Mahon-Plage (11 km) — supervised beach in season, sandcastles and swimming
  • Arbre et Aventure tree-top adventure park in Quend (13 km) — courses suited to ages 3-4 and up, depending on level

For teenagers and active families

Sand yachting and kitesurfing, available from age 7-8 with a supervised taster session in Fort-Mahon, are a particular hit with thrill-seeking preteens. Le Touquet, 19 km away, adds cycling through the state forest and its huge beach for ball games with plenty of room to spare. The Parc du Marquenterre (13 km), with its observation hides and cart rides, suits children already interested in nature.

The cottage itself, with its wooded grounds and pond, lets children play safely without ever leaving the estate — a real bonus on days when no one fancies getting back in the car. Find all the distances and full details of each activity, filterable by radius, on our Activities page.
